A Guided Imagery Tool For Healing

This is actually a fantasy in my own imagination, but it is a fantasy by which I engage in healing unresolved hurt inside of ME and I am passing it on as a therapeutic tool for all who want to try it out. It starts with thinking of a physically isolated place of healing where outside interests and forces will not interfere.  It started as an uncharted island off the beaten path of main oceanic traffic, but it eventually developed into another realm where people go in their dreams. These dreams are far more coherent and vivid than most dreams. It’s somewhat like another planet, and in this place established residents are dedicated to healing, wellness of attitude, and nothing else. Here I am talking about healing the mind, memories, emotions, psyche, soul and spirit. Mind, body and spirit are all interconnected. Mind, psyche and spirit are always involved in physical healing.  I am involved in this fantasy imagery mainly to heal all the unresolved hurt that arises from all the forms of un-forgiveness, and I am proposing that all hurt in the psyche is the result of un-forgiveness. This is the greatest and most horrid negative force on Earth. Think about it. All forms of “us vs. them” are ultimately spawned from intolerance which is ultimately an un-forgiving attitude. There are some who may disagree. I forgive them and let them think as they please. I am taking a certain direction here to suit my purpose in self healing, and I am passing it on because I know it will work for others. Spirituality, Spiritual Principles and Higher Power are involved here. I am keeping religion and religiosity to an absolute minimum here. So many religions push “us vs. them” which has incessantly proven to be a source of hurt!

I know five people who’ve personally told me their near death experiences. The following attributes are in common: 1. A great and profoundly deep peace. 2. A feeling of the presence of other spirit beings and/or God. 3. The knowledge that death is an illusion and life does pass on into other dimensions of being. 4. The understanding that we are here to help each other, and we are all connected.

It is said according to ancient shamanic and other beliefs that when we sleep, dreams include some of the other dimensions to which we return between lives in the present physical dimensions. I am a total believer in reincarnation. So for me it is logical to believe that in dreaming, healing of soul, spirit and even body can actually happen, in fact, I’ve experienced it myself. I lost the farm upon which I grew up, selling it under very bad advisement and twisted and false reasoning when I was seriously brainwashed by religious fundamentalists. After seventeen years of grieving the loss of the farm, including in my dreams, I received a healing in the dream state in which some other part of me said to my “main” consciousness, “The farm is gone, isn’t it?” I said yes. “It’s not coming back. It’s sold and changed, and gone to us?” I said yes. That was a very important “over the hump” experience in which the anger and depression part of grieving was replaced by acceptance of the loss. Now my dreams about the farm which still come often, weekly at least, do not hurt any more, and are thoroughly enjoyable. I visit my parents in my dreams. Who’s to say they’re not actually my real parents in my dreams

We live our lives, waking and dreaming, in which the things we experience in our psyches and spirits are connected to other dimensions of Universe reality consisting of more than just stuff in our heads, not to mention all that’s in our heads really is the precursor of all we make of ourselves and become in this physical reality.

Here is the imagery for you to project in your mind: You can put yourself and your emotional or possibly even physical hurt in this place, or as I often do, place a person you hate or despise, and/or consider a person who is a monster to you or to Humanity in general; you put him or her in this place you are imagining.

Here are the ground rules:

All anger and hatred are unresolved hurt. This is fixed by healing.

“Punishment” and “Paying a debt to society” are nothing but revenge disguised as “justice”.

True Justice is always win-win, never win-lose,

“Eye for eye, tooth for tooth” justice is revenge and perpetuated unresolved hurt, anger and hatred.

True Justice is always restorative, never punitive.

Loss to one is ultimately loss to us all, we are all interconnected.

Always remember and invoke the Golden Rule;

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

The realm I am picturing is a beautiful countryside, anyplace you want to imagine that is serene and beautiful with singing birds and gentle wildlife. Healing and resolving hurt is the only activity and attitude here. Some people are walking towards you/subject.  There are twelve of them approaching from all directions converging into a circle, and they stop about ten feet from you in a circle. Their arms are out stretched towards you, palms upward as if they are sending you energy, and they are!  And you/subject are infused with well being and Absolute Joy! There is no room for any bad feelings, just no room for that!  While you are in this state, they turn and go, all except one. This one who stays asks you, not subject but you, “Is there anything you would like to tell me, anything at all?”  You may respond to this question with your deepest heartfelt feeling regarding ANYTHING. Always keep in mind the ground rules as stated above. True healing must always be based on a win-win situation, otherwise it is neither true nor effective healing.

This is a tool I am giving you. In our imaginations, we have the ability to change our story, change our self image, change the way we feel towards others and ourselves, and as I am focusing on here, de-fang our anger towards people we fear, despise and hate. It helps to know that all antisocial, criminal, pathological behavior is spawned from unresolved hurt, and that is corrected by healing, not punishment. As you decrease the negativity within yourself, there is less negativity you are projecting into the world at large, and less negativity traumatizing you inside. Try it as I present it first and see what happens. Keep in mind the goal of resolving negativity in yourself. Then modify it as you wish. If it resolves hurt inside you, I’ve done my job here. Even the other person you put in the imagery is to heal hurt in YOU, and how you feel about that person.

I’ve been Filled with Joy with no room for anything else two times so far in the past few years.  The first time I had no name for it other than Filled With Unspeakable Joy.  I knew it was from God. The second time it happened after doing some specific chakra meditation (“Chakra Meditation”, Layne Redmond, Sounds True Books) and transcendental meditation. My TM mantra cost me $15 in 1974.  I understand that you must now go through a whole program that costs hundreds.  The second time I identified the Joy as Kundalini Shacti in Hindu-Yoga sanskrit terminology, or Filled with the Holy Spirit in Christian terminology. I’m sure they are the same. Ultimately, the Spirit of God doesn’t discriminate among religions or traditions, but honors all who seek God and practice the Golden Rule.

I call this a healing reality, not just a fantasy, because it works for me specifically de-fanging and dissolving away my anger, hatred and loathing of various people in the public eye and people I know whom I regard as monsters.  The old adage “Hate the sin; love the sinner” is still true.  I regard all that is called “sin” to be all the unresolved hurt in all of Humanity. Hurt is always healable and to be healed, not punished. All forgiveness is ultimately forgiveness of hatred, hurt and negativity in yourself, it’s you that it is tearing to shreds and making a monster of you. Healing and/or seeking healing of that is your job. The person you hate may not ever be changed by your forgiveness or un-forgiveness, that’s not the primary purpose of forgiveness, it’s to heal you. If your forgiveness does heal the other person, that’s gravy and grace!! You are free to hate hypocrisy, not hypocrites, murder, not murderers, greed, but not greedy people. Your hatred and loathing of those people only injures You! That’s why this imagery tool of my imagination is a means by which I heal ugly thoughts within myself and therefore healing myself.  And here I am passing it on.

Here is another very powerful tool of the imagination to heal and transform the negativity in yourself. Choose any villain, personal or public, that you loath despise or hate. Put that villain in a position of encountering or being encountered by somebody. The encountering person starts out as a very ordinary human being, but then transforms into an Angel of Divine Light who draws the villain into Heaven, the Glory of the Spirit. Understand, the True Glory of the Spirit will indeed bring any villain into a higher plain of consciousness in which that person rises above the captive negativity of unresolved hurt, and is released from it. Also understand if you’ve never had an experience or revelation or spiritual enlightenment, this may be more difficult to imagine convincingly within yourself. And remember this is to heal yourself, not necessarily the villain, though the Universe may work incredible wonders for and through you.

A   Zen   Experience

Who are you?

What are you about?

What do you love to do?

What do you love to be?

Do you consider yourself gifted?

Do you consider yourself cursed?

All of us are born into this existence and we are sentient, conscious beings aware of ourselves.

This is the beginning of all of us on Earth in a physical reality, and this is all that we truly, truly know undeniably. It all comes back to our consciousness, each and every one of us, all knowledge stems from our consciousness being touched by others like us and not like us. All relates back to the I AM that each one us is.

From this simple base, we may proceed outward among that BEYOND the sphere of OUR immediate

I AMness.

Or

We go INSIDE OUR OWN I AMness to EXPLORE.

This is the basis of Eastern Meditation, to explore the I AMness within.

The ZEN tradition is one of the methods of exploration.

This tradition uses the Koan (KOH-ahn) defined as follows: “A paradox, (riddle or absurdity) to be meditated upon that is used to train Zen Buddhist monks to abandon ultimate dependence on reason and to force them into gaining sudden intuitive enlightenment.”  (Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Tenth Edition, My underline and added words in parentheses.

“What is the sound of one hand clapping?” is the one of the most famous koans floating around and often joked about.

The student may spend hours at a time for days, weeks, months, and even years meditationg on one koan.

The enlightenment is sudden, and has nothing to do with reason. It is intuitive, and comes from the

I AMness within.

My very description naming it the I AMness is from my resolving of my koan.

My koan came to me around the age of two and a half years.

I pondered it often, but not at great length (a few minutes), uncountable times over my life for decades.

This is not traditional orthodox Zen meditation practice.

Nor do I claim it to be a traditional orthodox Zen koan.

But it brought me to the revelation that God is not other.

Around the age of 62 or so.

And here is the Koan: “How is it that I am THIS me (pointing to myself)????  Everywhere on Earth are others (each referring to themselves as “ME” just as I do, but they aren’t THIS ME!!!!”

What a…..profundity!!!!!

Who am I that I am THIS special ME inside this skin HERE other than all others entitled to identify each of themselves as “ME” just as I do??????

Is there a resolution to this???????

The Resolution Is……..

The I AM of “ME” is the I AM of God!!!!!!!!

As It Is With All Of Us!!!!!!

God is not Other!!!!!!!

The consciousness of me goes all the way to God Who is the origin and creator of all consciousness in existence AND IS NEVER APART FROM IT.

Only the Ego separates Us from the Oneness of God.

And even in this Earthly life we can transcend the ego, even in meditation.
